POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated, hard-working individual, to fill a Park Attendant position at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park.
This position is centered on the day to day park operations.
The successful candidate will be required to perform various duties including the following:
park maintenance, grounds keeping, park protection, visitor services.
This is a part time, temporary position working 29 hours per week.
The selected candidate will be required to work rotating shifts to include holidays and weekends.
This position does not include health benefits or paid leave.
Opportunities will exist for additional training and experience.

VISITOR SERVICES/VISITOR EDUCATION - Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions.
Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations.

MAINTENANCE - Maintains cleanliness of grounds and facilities.
Lawn care.
Experience in some basic maintenance skilled is preferred.

PROTECTION Seeks voluntary compliance from visitors to ensure park rules are followed pertaining to all natural, historical and archaeological facilities and resources and use thereof for enjoyment of the visitor.

Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

Knowledge of:
Good public relations; basic arithmetic;
performing grounds and building maintenance.

Skill in:
Operating lawn maintenance equipment; good communication with fellow staff and visitors; providing good customer service.

Ability to:
follow verbal and written instructions/directions; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; perform physical labor outdoors in the summer and winter months; operate radio equipment, handle visitor inquiries in a tactful and courteous manner; understand and apply rules, directives, policies, laws and regulations; prepare reports; work independently with minimum supervision; lift 50 pounds; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; work rotating shifts, including nights, holidays, and weekends; operate personal computers; maintain a valid driver s license; clean park facilities, including but not limited to, cleaning restrooms and picking up trash; work outdoors in inclement weather; perform physical labor; comply with male and female hair grooming standards and body art and piercing restrictions.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
