MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing or electrical or mechanical equipment.

Vocational/technical training in mechanical repair or one (1) of the building trades can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for a maximum of one (1) year of the required experience.

Requires possession of a valid Driver License.

JOB DUTIES:

This position, headquartered at the Suwannee Valley State Farmers Market in White Springs, provides a broad range of repair and maintenance functions for four state farmers markets in North Florida:
Suwannee Valley, Trenton, Starke and Palatka.

Installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical equipment. Inspects municipal water supplies, collects and submits water samples as required by jurisdictional health agencies. Checks and adjusts chlorine and air baffle levels.

Performs various cement/concrete work and performs minor welding/brazing. Makes minor asphalt repairs.

Installs, maintains and repairs valves, sinks, wash bowls, sewers and other sanitary fixtures.

Maintains and repairs heating and air conditioning equipment. Operates and maintains power equipment and tools, including power saws, drills, chain saws, bench grinders, lawn mowers and other as necessary.

Performs lawn care and grounds maintenance duties.

Performs minor mechanical repairs to state equipment. Maintains inventories of market supplies other than office supplies.

Cleans and stocks public restrooms.

Performs other related work as assigned by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

General principles of skilled building trades or mechanical repair work and safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work.

  • Skill in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to perform a variety of skilled trades functions.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability install, maintain and repair electric motors, generators and other mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to take accurate measurements.
  • Ability to follow instructions.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
